FAQ (sometimes also called an "NAQ" - Not Asked Questions)

Q:  How does the SnorEnder help me stop my snoring?

A:  It can help keep your mouth closed, comfortably and effectively.  Since the most common cause of loud nightly snoring is lying on your back with your mouth open, keeping it closed can really go a long way towards silencing the snoring.  That said, no snoring product works for everyone.

Of course, the SnorEnder also provides a unique integration of acupressure and magnetic therapy capabilities with its biomechanical features.  More information on these capabilities can be found on the Snoring & Acupressure, Snoring & Magnetic Therapy, and Snoring & Tinnitus pages.

Q:  Why are you offering a ONE YEAR Money Back Guarantee now?

A:  The NEW ONE YEAR Guarantee applies ONLY to orders placed on or after August 29, 2005, until or unless we return to a more traditional guarantee.  We reserve the right to change it without prior notice as business conditions warrant.

Why are we offering a ONE YEAR Guarantee?  We now have enough of a customer base to determine that:

     1.  The SnorEnder Pro and SnorEnder really DO work to help reduce or even stop chronic, non-apnea snoring in many adults where it is due to open-mouth breathing during sleep.  That's about 85% of snorers.

     2.  A small number of returned products came back within a week or two from people who did not clearly understand that it can often take some time to "re-train" their body to breathe through the nose during sleep.  You didn't learn to snore overnight; it took many years.  Don't expect to stop the snoring instantly.  Your body doesn't work that way.

     3.  We feel that giving you a FULL YEAR to try the SnorEnder will allow you the time you may need to stop the snoring.  It usually takes a few weeks, but can take longer in some snorers.

     4.  The SnorEnder, when cared for properly, can last 2-3 years or more, so you really do get more than your money's worth.  For example, a year's supply of chin & nose strips will cost more than $300.  Over the expected life of a SnorEnder (at $69.95), you will spend more than $1,000 on these products.

     5.  We believe in our products and in the integrity of our customers. They trust us when they make the purchase.  We trust them to try the SnorEnder for a full year to get its full benefits - after all you wouldn't go to the effort and cost of ordering any snoring relief product if you really did not want to stop the snoring.

     6.  Refunds are given by company check, not through your credit card.  The reason for this is that credit cards make it very difficult and expensive for merchants to process refunds to customers after the usual 30-day return period.

Q:  Can the SnorEnder help my sleep apnea?

A:   NO.  Absolutely not!  We want you to know that only FDA-approved devices can be used to treat this potentially life-threatening sleep disorder.  And only a qualified sleep specialist can properly diagnose this disease.  The NFL legend, Reggie White allegedly suffered from sleep apnea, and it may have contributed to his untimely and regrettable death.

If you snore, you may have Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  ONLY your healthcare professional can diagnose this potentially life-threatening sleep disorder.

IF YOU SNORE, SEE YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER!

If you have the symptoms of this disorder, get proper medical care immediately.

However, some users of CPAP machines often complain of "oral venting."    This is when you breathe out through your mouth while wearing a CPAP mask.  Under certain conditions, it can cause the CPAP to be less effective.  CPAP users may also breathe through their open mouth, instead of through the nose.  This can contribute to dry-mouth, sore throat and frequent colds.  Some sleep specialists recommend that keeping the mouth closed while using a CPAP mask may be beneficial.  But if you do use a CPAP, please discuss this with your physician first.

There is also some relatively new scientific data that suggests that some sleep apnea may be due to open-mouth breathing.  Close the mouth and breathe through the nose during sleep, and you might minimize the risks of obstructive sleep apnea.  However, ONLY your doctor can determine if you should try this approach.

In compliance with FDA regulations, we want you to understand that the SnorEnder is intended for comfort only.  It is an article of clothing, not a "medical device" and is not intended to treat any disease, including sleep apnea.

Q:  Do ALL snorers have sleep apnea?

A:   That's like asking if everyone that sneezes has pneumonia.  Some do.  Most do not.  While some recent news coverage would make you think that everyone who snores must have sleep apnea, the truth is simple.  Snoring is just one of several symptoms of this potentially serious sleep disorder, not the only one.  If you are significantly overweight, smoke, don't exercise, and generally live an unhealthful lifestyle, snoring might indicate some real need for concern.  Or, it might not.  ONLY your doctor will be able to determine if you have reason to be concerned.

However, to imply, as some medical and pharmaceutical authorities are now doing, that ALL snoring is a symptom of  this "disease" is just plain silly - or mercenary?  It's highly unlikely, based on common sense and a basic understanding of sleep apnea, the respiratory system and human sleep dynamics, that we are a nation of "silent apneics" - that the millions of us who snore are suffering from undiagnosed sleep apnea.  But, it's a great way to sell lots of "sleep apnea" treatments like  expensive CPAP machines and surgical procedures at a $1,000 to $15,000 each.

Snoring as a "disease" is fast becoming a lot like the "Ritalin Effect" in the 1990's:  if you want to sell lots of expensive pills for ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), just diagnose every active child with the disorder.  Ignore the side-effects and the fact that kids were never designed to sit quietly for hours in a dull, boring classroom.  So drug them instead.  Humans were not designed to be seriously overweight, sedentary, and live self-destructive lifestyles.  Unfortunately, too many of us live that way.

If you want further evidence that perhaps just a few diseases are somewhat oversold, turn on your TV and count how many medical ads appear in an hour.  You're going to be very surprised!

Snoring MAY be indicative of sleep apnea (possibly).  It may also be NOTHING MORE than simple snoring (probably).  BUT, only a qualified medical sleep specialist can tell.

See your physician promptly if you have any concerns,

fears, or questions about your snoring.

Q:  Do doctors really recommend the SnorEnder to their patients?

A:  Yes, doctors that have tried the SnorEnder themselves often do.  Because it does effectively reduce open-mouth snoring in most adults who can breathe properly through their nose.  And it's inexpensive, with no unpleasant side-effects.  Our customers include M.D.s. D.O.s, nurses, chiropractors, respiratory technicians, anesthesiologists, and even dentists.  They all have one common trait - they first practice what they tell their patients.  If you snore, try simple, non-intrusive solutions BEFORE you take the risk of using expensive alternatives for NON-APNEA snoring.

Q:  Will the SnorEnder STOP ALL my snoring?

A:  NO.  Very probably not.  In fact, we think we can guarantee that it won't completely stop ALL your snoring!

Not even the latest snoring surgery (laser or Dacron PET threads inserted into the upper throat) makes that claim.  In fact, the best surgical procedures usually only cut the snoring noise by about half.  They don't necessarily cut the frequency of snoring.

The SnorEnder does NOT "cure" snoring.  We know of nothing today that can credibly make that claim, not even surgery.

The SnorEnder may reduce most open-mouth snoring in the majority of non-apnea snorers who have used it consistently, every night.  Our studies indicate that it may be as much as 60-80% effective in substantially reducing loud open-mouth snoring. That's MUCH more effective than the published success of many other anti-snoring products.

It doesn't help that much if you snore through your nose, a much smaller percentage of sleeper do that anyway.  So, while we'd love to claim (as some anti-snoring devices do) that our products will stop ALL snoring, you're not foolish.  You know what such claims are worth.

What we have observed is that many SnorEnder users will still occasionally snore a few times during the night.  But the volume and duration of that snoring is often far less than before.  Some SnorEnder wearers snore briefly and only while lying on their backs.  Others may snore on their side from time to time. If the SnorEnder doesn't help you, send it back.

Usually characterized as "snorts" or "quick snores", this 'secondary' snoring seems to occur in about 50-60% of SnorEnder users, and is related to age, weight, health, sleep position, the presence of sinus congestion (a major factor) and other factors.

Q:  I have heart pacemaker.  Can I use a SnorEnder ?

A:  Generally, popular magnetic therapy products have been found to be safe for use by patients with heart pacemakers.  However, we strongly urge you to discuss this with your physician.

Those patients who use an insulin pump MUST see their physician BEFORE they order any product with magnetic properties.

In general:  the SnorEnder is NOT recommended for the following:

  • Those who think they may have symptoms of sleep apnea (not just snoring)
  • Those with DIAGNOSED sleep apnea, without the supervision of their physician.  If you think you may have symptoms of sleep apnea, please see your healthcare provider promptly.
  • Those with significant NASAL breathing problems or obstructions.  If you have serious chronic difficulty in breathing through your nose, please see your healthcare provider or ENT specialist promptly.
  • Take the NOSE TEST before you order
  • Those who expect that the SnorEnder will STOP ALL their snoring.  It won't, and probably nothing else will either.

Q:  Can I wear the SnorEnder if I have a cold or the flu?

A:  A "qualified" Yes - but you probably should not.  We have observed that it isn't really as effective if you have significant nasal or sinus congestion.  If your nose is stuffy, it's harder to breathe through it, and you have to resort to breathing through your open mouth.  And then you snore.  It's also probably not a good idea to wear something that keeps your mouth closed if you can't breathe properly through your nose.

So, maybe taking an anti-histamine cold remedy might help. And some of our study participants also wore nose strips together with the SnorEnder.  But, if you're really down with a cold or the flu, get better first.  Snoring is a secondary problem.  And be sure to wash your SnorEnder after using it when you're sick.

And, naturally, see your doctor if symptoms don't improve within 5-7 days.

Q:  I have tinnitus ("ringing in the ears").  You claim that the SnorEnder can help stop the symptoms.  How?

A:  First - we DO NOT claim that the SnorEnder can stop or even mitigate the symptoms of tinnitus. Making such a claim, without prior FDA approval, is a violation of U.S. law.

Second - what we have reported is an observation that we noted during a number of studies over a period of about 3 years.  There seems to be a subjective lessening of the noise in some (but not all) users who used the SnorEnder for 9-15 months.  "Subjective" means that the user reported the effect, but there is no objective or third-party way to confirm it.

That's why we offer a ONE YEAR guarantee.

We think that it may be related to the ways that the SnorEnder's AcuSleep earpads stimulate various acupuncture "points" on and around the ears and the side of the head.  But, we have no scientific theory or double-blind studies to confirm this observation.

Simply stated:  you may experience some reduction in your tinnitus.  Or, you may experience NO effect at all.  There is, unfortunately, no way to know without using it for a lengthy period of time.  So please - don't buy a SnorEnder just for tinnitus relief.  That's not what it's for.  Buy it to help you reduce loud, chronic, habitual, non-apnea, open-mouthed snoring.

Q:  Does the SnorEnder come in Larger and Smaller sizes?

A:  YES.    We now have the following models:
